When you Google this issue, it is apparent across the country that many municipalities have the same issue. Each city/town has too many speakers and the meetings do run till 12-2am. Is the timeline on a meeting the basis to curb the community from their right to speak at the city council? Does it also give the right to the council president to decide what is tolerable and what is not? I don’t think so…….
I thought the Zimmer Clan was all for open and transparent government, this is starting to feel otherwise. I would be shocked if Hoboken does not revolt on this resolution.
I am all for calm, rationale conversation at city council meetings and people should not present personal attacks to the council, but to limit speaking is Un-American. Many towns have this issue and the overwhelming majority votes for 3-5 mins and ask the residents to behave appropriately. Case closed.
A vote to limit speaking will be the nail in the coffin for this so-called reform group.
