Chlorine in our water

Just curious if anyone else smells the Chlorine that is put in Hoboken's water supply periodically?? I myself have water filter's in my home as I am allergic to Chlorine. Chlorine is highly toxic and is regulated by the government as a must for the US water supply. It seems to me though if you can actually smell it that it is too much. I have called the town on this and of course they say it is within regulation. Any thoughts??
