Christie Says Layoffs Out for Cutting Budget
Last year I thought Corzine's deal to freeze public salaries and furlough workers was a step forward. I was wrong.
The deal came with restrictions on layoffs. So now the crisis is deeper and Christie says, “I cannot lay off one state worker, I cannot furlough one state worker.” “It’s an exquisite set of handcuffs.”
