Hoboken Revolt

The Hoboken Tax Reform Coalition

The following interesting tidbit is found in the Hoboken Reporter dated February 28, 2010, on page 8:

"... In fact, the city is currently negotiating with the unions, a duty that Tripodi was handling until recently. She was removed from the negotiations by the new interim commissioner of the state Department of Community Affairs, Lori Grifa."

Way to go, Ms. Grifa!

Furthermore: "Tripodi has declined to comment, but Zimmer said the council will vote on the contract that Tripodi and the police union have agreed on. Zimmer said the council received approval from the state to consider the terms of the proposed contract in open session at their next meeting, and the public will be able to ask questions.
However, most insiders believe that the council will not approve the contract. Then, the city would resume the negotiations ..."

It appears that the city's affairs are finally being returned to the elected officials (Mayor and City Council), a development that most certainly is welcomed by the electorate. Let's now make sure that Tripodi is being sent packing altogether ASAP.

The story about Judy Tripodi no longer charged with deciding the union agreement was broken last Wednesday. MSV sent the details of that revelation to the Hudson Reporter among others.

That the new Acting Commissioner Lori Grifa is noted as responsible is hardly surprising. When MSV interviewed Mayor Zimmer at City Hall, the mayor revealed a call had come just minutes earlier from Ms. Grifa noting she was in her third day in the position and the Hoboken Police Audit would be a priority. MSV expressed its confidence in that conversation by thanking Ms. Grifa in an email for doing so on behalf of Hoboken, in advance.

The Judy Tripodi statement on this matter and the Police Audit is available for those who did not see it is available for your review.
