Setting the record straight: Silly people make silly assumptions

Nancy Pincus continues to dig herself a deeper and deeper hole as she struggles to justify her scatological attacks. In today's installment, how wrong she is, again.

Mistake #1 -- Assuming content from a website has been "scrubbed" simply because Tony Soares posts broken links to it on the Revolt board.

Ms. Pincus, you wrote an entire blog post assuming Tony was accurate. Did you even check yourself? Obviously not. If you had you would have found his -- and by extention, your -- conclusions were wrong. Tony is well known for being less than proficient on the keyboards during his internet jihads. It happens. Nobody's perfect.

Mistake #2 -- Assuming that I endorse and approve of everything on a website I have absolutely no control over.

The truth of the matter? I reacted exactly the same way Tony did to the "City Hall Monkey Business" post. I even took the time to privately send a note to the sole owner/operator of that site expressing my view that although he provides a tremendous service to the City of Hoboken, that this photo essay was inappropriate and counterproductive to those who were trying to appropriately point out the many hypocrisies of the Zimmer/Lenz administration.

Mistake #3 -- You continue to perpetuate the lie that I am also posting as "truthseeker"

Don't believe me? Ask the Admin to check the IP addresses. You're on notice that this is false. Yes, that would be legal notice.

Mistake #4 -- Assuming that I want to "silence" Nancy Pincus.

Quite to the contrary. The worse she acts (showing her true self, and the true face of the Zimmerists) the better it is for those who want to show Dawn's inner circle for exactly what they are. Pincus has every right to behave badly, but as an appointed public official her actions deserve greater scrutiny.

If Pincus' depiction of six people swimming in excrement punch wasn't offensive, then why did she take it down from her site so quickly? Perhaps those who Pincus was attempting to help with her scatological display were as disgusted with the over-the-line-of-decency display. Otherwise, why would she take it down?

You decide: http://hoboken411.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/Zimmer-appointed-Z...

I could go on, but this post is long enough. Enjoy your Sunday. I know I will.

Point by point..

Nancy Pincus continues to dig herself a deeper and deeper hole as she struggles to justify her scatological attacks.

What about her factual 'attacks'? Have you found any merit there? Is it possible that Ms. Pincus "provides a service to the City of Hoboken" just as you say 411 does?

What about exposing the intent to use the Lincoln dinner as a) a partisan Republican event, b) an endorsement for RR? Where else did you read that? Not in 411 surely.

Does MSV "provide a service"? Did anyone else get the interview with Tripodi and numerous other good-gets I could name?

I'm curious - is it part of the "tremendous service" of 411 that you have observed that it doesn't get these stories?

What about it? Can you give GA and MSV credit -genuine, unqualified credit- for covering news and providing information that doesn't otherwise get out there? Or do their votes for Zimmer eternally de-value all their work?

The truth of the matter? I reacted exactly the same way Tony did to the "City Hall Monkey Business" post. I even took the time to privately send a note to the sole owner/operator of that site expressing my view ... that this photo essay was inappropriate.

Really? You 'sent the proprietor an email'? How often have you found it necessary to send these emails to the proprietor? There've been plenty of photoshops that would tend to offend someone of your proposed sensitivities..

But setting that aside, this characterization of your relationship to 411 is rather formal. As you tell it, you must send a letter to the editor when offended - just like anyone else.

But being a keenly aware blogger yourself, you can easily imagine that this positioning will raise a few eyebrows. So since you have, at some noted pains, joined this site and created this thread to 'set the record straight' - here's your chance.

Do you or don't you write political copy on 411? Yes you do, or, no you don't?.

You continue to perpetuate the lie that I am also posting as "truthseeker" Don't believe me? Ask the Admin to check the IP addresses. You're on notice that this is false. Yes, that would be legal notice.

I could've told her that. Not everyone is as good at blog spotting as you. Or me. Here again your protest will be met with skepticism. You have quite an interest in blogging and a breadth of knowledge about who says what where and when. So once again, in the interest of setting the record straight...

Do you or don't you maintain a set of blogging IDs other than Lane B? Yes you do, or, no you don't?

Should we believe that someone who focuses on blogging even in prepared remarks at CC meetings never logs onto blogs himself to return fire anonymously?

Should we also suppose that you don't maintain an ID at 411? After all, I've never seen a Lane B post over there. Ergo you either never post at 411 - or you use an ID that allows you to be anonymous? After all - protecting anonymity is paramount for a blog, don't you agree? Yours, mine, others..?

So if you do maintain multiple blogging identities, then isn't this simply a question of being linked -this time- to the wrong one? Aren't we just haggling over the price?

And you're threatening legal action over it? Has it come to that? Suing? To simplify matters going forward - which IDs would you like to be linked to? Or will you sue until one guesses right?

Mistake #4 -- Assuming that I want to "silence" Nancy Pincus. Quite to the contrary. The worse she acts (showing her true self, and the true face of the Zimmerists) the better it is for those who want to show Dawn's inner circle for exactly what they are.

At last we agree - at least in principle. I think you have done more to undermine whatever cause it is you're supporting than you can ever imagine. The attacks on citizens who have contributed to political campaigns and later served in uncompensated board and committee appointments are beyond cynical. Someone who does things like that can really energize an opposition, just as 411 has inadvertently created a vibrant web community by continually insulting the intelligence of the community it had.

You give a face and a voice to a rudderless, joyless, humorless social narcissism that inevitably and invariably makes any thought if its success deeply, even morbidly, unappealing and swells the ranks and coffers of its opposition.

And for that reason I say - long may you wave.
Lane B says... "Tony is well known for being less than proficient on the keyboards during his internet jihads. It happens. Nobody's perfect."

Oh yes damn the keyboard and those broken links... See attached:

Me thinks he doth protest too much. But I guess Silly people make silly defenses.

#2 is utterly laughable, kind of like the way you would laugh when a small child lies to you saying they didn't eat the chocolate when the proof is still smeared on their face. If you believe anything stated there, I got a bridge you can buy (free chocolate bar with purchase!)

Totally agree with Info- long may the tongue wag, and eventually wrap itself around its master's neck.
Is this really the place for this?
Why does everything have to include legal threats these days?
Lane B, why don't you post this on the Graphix Avenger site or 411?
Everyone else, may I suggest NOT POSTING and letting this thread die?
(all rhetorical questions, please don't sue me)

This has crossed the political boundary and seems wholly personal between 411, GrafixAvenger and their friends.
Lane great to have you back. It would be unfair to blame you for all the misleading attacks that have been published on 411. Can you identify which ones you contributed to so we don't hold you responsible for the work of others?

Thanks
Respectfully, David, as the target of 'Lane B.'s' vitriol, and as a long-standing member of Revolt, last night I submitted a request to the Revolt moderator to take this thread down on the basis that it is irrelevant and a wholly personal attack. I also asked the Mod to suggest the Lane B. post his response on the Grafix blog: http://grafixavenger.blogspot.com/.

Given that the thread is still here, I can only assume whomever is moderating endorses 'Lane B.'s point-of-view and believes this topic is somehow relevant to Hoboken taxpayers. Perhaps the Moderator would like to explain that.

I agree with you, David. The Moderator is in control here.

Thanks for all the responses. I'm very busy today and don't have time to respond to each and every one right now, but relish the opportunity to do so. I'll just chime in for a moment to point out how ironic (but not surprising) it is for Ms. Pincus to now be lobbying for censorship on this site. I also note she hasn't addressed the factual points of my post, not that I'm surprised. The truth hurts.

All I've done here is log on to set the record straight following direct attacks on me on the Revolt site by npincus, Tony Soares and "InfotainMe" -- a guy who can't even muster the courage to comment under his own name.

Since these attacks were made and perpetuated here, and involve the state of local government discourse and taxes in Hoboken, I should be given the opportunity to counter them here. If Revolt went by "Nancy's Rules" Tony would have lost the opportunity to post long ago and Info's attack on me by name would be pulled down. I want no such thing to happen.

More later. It's a beautiful day and I'm working on some very exciting projects.

I agree with David that this thread has no direct relevence to taxpayer issues. It is, however, relevent in the sense that it helps us to evaluate the credibility of both Mr. Bejardi and Ms. Pincus. For me, Mr. Bejardi's frustration at having the grafixavenger attack him using precisely the same tools he has used so often on others is an amusing irony.

That said, two wrongs don't make a right and the ineffectiveness of these tactics is clearly demonstrated by the dramatic collapses both of Hoboken411 and of every political candidates promoted by that site and by Mr. Bejardi. It feels good to hit back, but it often isn't the most productive response.

Beating them at their own game may be gratifying, but not if it causes you to take your eye off the ball.
Lane we understand you must be very busy. It would probably be best if you could identify the more recent 411 articles you contributed to and what your contribution consisted of. I know you take a lot of pictures for 411 but I think we're all more insterested in what articles you researched, wrote yourself or helped to write.

Hopefully your schedule lets up soon so we can clarify this and avoid thinking you wrote an article you had nothing to do with.

Take care

Since we have yet another new thread to divert from Maureen Sullivan answering questions, let's play along with "setting the record straight."

How much compensation has the Bajardi clan received directly or indirectly from Councilwoman Mason?

What government job(s) at City Hall in Hoboken was discussed/planned for a) Mr. Bajardi, b) Mrs. Bajardi? Please include the salary and/or salaries details discussed.

In the spirit of transparency, and for the performance art weaving various conspiracy theories/charges against Hoboken citizens and Hoboken Revolt, we'd like to have an answer "setting the record straight."
The monitor is not going to play along with this tread much longer.

Thank you. I've had my removal request in since last evening.
