Hoboken Revolt

The Hoboken Tax Reform Coalition

I just read on hoboken411 about Ballah and Cunningham awarding a no contest contract to attorney Condon.

The facts are incredibly incriminating.

Ballah and Cunningham go way back with this attorney and they did not even expose this relationship before awarding this guy a contract.

I can't believe our newly elected councilmen are already flouting our laws!

Even if this is true, I really trust Bhalla; and Cunningham. Every time I listen to Bhalla speak in the council meetings, he is the voice of reason. Cunningham is really doing a wonderful job with the gavel. If Condon is recommended by the two of them, then I trust that he is a good attorney. So far the people that we elected are doing an excellent job under Zimmer's leadership.
I agree w/you Georgia - I personally don't care if they knew this guy or their wives worked together...or whatever. With that said, I believe in "trust but verify" - I would have preferred that they share their dealings with him to the public and, in light of the possiblity that that those prior dealings/relationships could have pushed him to the front of the line, a bit more information on his background and experience was in order prior to the vote.

My eyebrow is raised and I'm vocalizing a "hmmmm"

While I'm one who is generally pleased with what I'm seeing from this new council (actually, probably more than merely generally pleased) - in situations like this - they (and Dawn) really have to be careful not to give the appearance of "taking care of buddies" and/or representing only certain interests in the community. Tough job and with a lot of responsibility.
Neither should have voted and came clean with the relationship. Hoboken and Hudson county in particular are all looking for reasons to throw stones. Both should have known better and withdrew from voting.
The fact that Bhalla and Cunningham voted for this contract is not really the problem here. So far, their actions as City Councilmen have lived up to my expectations and I am therefore willing to trust their judgment regarding this particular choice of a contractor.

The real problem that bothers me here is the fact that yet again the taxpayers are forced to foot the bill for cleaning up the wrongdoing of city employees. The real shame here is that - even after two years - this legal matter still has not been resolved yet and another $29,000 in legal fees are charged to the taxpayers! I sure hope that the city will try to recover all expenses if and when this individual is finally found guilty!
There could have been a potential problem here. Just conducted an interview with Ravi Bhalla. We get into the nitty gritty of the story and it's posted now.

Mile Square View.
THIS IS WRONG, DEAD WRONG????
how come POG is silent? Isnt Bhalla a lawyer? And council president, this isnt political?

Sven I sympathize I asked Kleinman, the previous Corp Counsel, over a year ago when this would be finished and he just shrugged his shoulders. That was the kind of drive City Hall had under Dave Roberts.

Andriani is no longer being paid and we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The Hoboken Tax payer has footed the bill for Andriani long enough, hopefully we'll be finished with him soon.
Its about Bhalla and Cunningham awarding a no contest contract to attorney Condon for 29k. I voted for change. seems like things remain the same, but different people.

Kyle, you realize that this is a not a new (i.e. first) contract to this lawyer but rather a continuing contract for the work that this lawyer has been doing on the Andriani case for the last couple of years or so. Would you have preferred to have a new contract awarded to a new lawyer instead, thus causing significant additional costs by asking this new lawyer who is unfamiliar with the case so far to get up to speed? I thought not! So what remains then is that you are most likely simply one of those people who like to bash the new administration for anything and everything they say or do. Maybe you should stick to H411 since you'll find lots of like-minded conversation partners there...
At least you are speaking the truth. Things are still the same, nothing has changed. New administration and prior administration are all the same?

411 is not a news source. It is like reading page six of the nypost.

I won't believe a single fact alleged by 411 until it is reported by an actual source.

Nothing done on that site in 2 years lends it any shred of credibility in my mind.

H411 is not a legitimate news source. It's like reading the Enquirer. He is biased, angry, and for some reason just hates Zimmer for the sake of hating her. This is just another attempt to discredit the parties that won over his beloved Beth.
