Hoboken Revolt

The Hoboken Tax Reform Coalition

Frank Raia to challenge approval of Zimmer and Mason Hoboken mayoral nominating petitions.

http://www.nj.com/hobokennow/index.ssf/2009/09/frank_raia_to_challe...

These type of shenanigans is to be expected since this is the only hope Pupie has of winning. Dawn's petitions were actually stamped 4 minutes before the deadline. Both Dawn's and Beth's petitions were accepted, but Pupie wants to challenge them in court.

Smarty, take the fed, state, local & SocSec out before you cut the check. I just want the pure profit.
Okay, you just need to fill out the withholding form. Then I can cut you the check.

Guys can we get back on topic please?

And Smarty, so many folks have kindly asked that you stop with the constant promotion of your blog.

If you don't stop, I certainly hope Revolt's leaders review your promotions here and ask you to cease or be removed.

We ALL KNOW where your blog sits, we can go there on our own.

Tony,

Thanks for your support. Have a pleasant day.
Why e-mailme privately Smarty? Why not post here your threat to me here out in the open where everyone can read your thoughts?
I never told you to shut up, perhaps you will launch a slander attack on me like one other unstable, obsessed blogger has done?
Please note I will file this message properly.

Folks here's Smarty's threat:

Tony,

I'm not going to participate in any catfish activity with you. The more you are rude and should you continue to tell me to shut up, the more inspired I am to write. So in your own way, I should thank you. Please return to your fight with Hudson Shark. I'm not interested.

When you were on Council I'd see you in public and say give'em hell Tony.
It's unfortunate that folks now feel you are your own worst enemy.

Will not respond to you again here. Censorship is not my bag, writing to help my town is.
Working on something that is the biggest story of the day. It won't be here as it's unrelated to the mission statement. Feel free to continue to read.
Best of luck to you.

Not asking for you to censor yourself. I am asking you to restrain yourself from advertising your blog.

I have never asked before now.

Even though Hudson Shark and I disagree and don't care for each other, He does not advertise his blog here. Apparently he understands the rules / Etiquette of the blogosphere/newsgroup world.

You then proceeded to email my home address with your candid response.

I like your posts and I go to your blog. I'm not the first person to complain.

Tony,

Your hatred seems to grow and spread everyday. Two fights for you today, one on the journal and one on here, both with blog creators merely trying to serve the public with censorship free information.

Everyone always talks about your temper (one of the reasons its obvious to people like me that you have multiple screen names with which you hurl vicious insults at many people from).

At first your actions angered me, but lately its just sad...

I'm not fighting, I asked that Smarty not advertise. That was my only intention.
Incognito Smith, thanks for your response. I agree with you that some of the actions Zimmer has taken recently as Acting Mayor are not gaining her any points with certain residents of the city. My hope, though, is that there will be enough voting "new residents" who are paying more than their fair share of the (extremely inflated) city taxes so that Zimmer will win the election even without the votes of those groups you mentioned.

As for your concerns regarding the qualifications of Zimmer's recent hirees and appointees, I beg to differ. In my opinion, first of all, she has made the process itself much more transparent than it has ever been in Hoboken (past mayors simply informed the public about their choices, which were made in back room deals), and second, it will be hard for anybody to seriously and honestly argue that her choices are not qualified for their respective positions. They all have appropriate (mostly even advanced) degrees and prior experience in their areas of responsibility, something that also could rarely be said in the past. Are those people somehow associated with / previously known to Zimmer, I don't really know, and quite frankly, I also don't care, as long as they are qualified and willing to get their respective jobs done properly. Again, the willingness (which at this point I will assume to be there until proven otherwise) is something certainly lacking in the past, where many of the elected and appointed city officials only worked to extend their power for self-enrichment and that of their friends and families. To my knowledge, so far Zimmer has not put any family members on the city payroll.

In summary, is Zimmer the perfect mayor? Well, most likely not. But is she trying to do the right things to improve the city? I believe she is. Also, at least in my opinion, she is by far the best of those candidates running, and therefore I will support her again, as I did in the elections in the spring.
Agree on the whole appointment process and especially on the level of candidates adding to the professional capability at City Hall. People also forget that those positions are not guaranteed beyond November. In addition, it's hard to take the criticism at face level as it's always surrounded with exaggeration, rumors, and outright myths and distortions.

Why anyone thinks that a government executive has no right to select a confidential aide is beyond me.
But then again almost every move at City Hall of late has appeared to be a license to attempt more dissension. And this was well before election season officially began. In some ways it's understandable. Cammarano's departure was a shocking blow to the old, dark ways.

Not going to draw a conclusion at this point, but this is easily the best time in Hoboken for government in quite a while. The problems are all well known but at least we aren't being exploited like before. Some impressive new faces on the scene and a level of professionalism that surpasses the Mendoza line on respectability.

Then again, I'm still awaiting my own appointment. Al Gore's time as internet discoverer has long since passed. Support me in my appointment as Director of Hoboken internet censorship. I will proudly go to each and every place where a local may venture and tell everyone what they can say and write. Let's call it Director of Open Internet Activity Doctrine, ownership of the website not required. Hey, I will even insult them on their own websites and claim it wasn't me. It's a grand job and I'm up for it. Looking to make a clean sweep of it.

Anyway, we're about to be assaulted with some nasty TV ads. It's all downhill from there. Even with that, not sure how past votes are changed and obviously we have a bigger field of candidates.
