Actually Fernanda, the students worked hard all year to meet the qualifying times in a few different races. They haven't qualified in 7 years. The money is for transportation, registration and the housing. The car wash was to help lower the price the board would have to pay to about $1,200.
If you want to see what cutting athletics looks like watch this video. This is the face of Real Results they have been trying to hide.
For the record the kids raised about $1,750 to defray about 70% of the costs. This was done via a car wash bake sale and donations. Good luck at the relays.
