I've lived in Hoboken since 2001. My wife and I are leaving Hoboken and moving to the "country" so to speak with our new born. I think after years of disappointment and disgrace of public officials in Hoboken, Mayor Zimmer should be commended on her ethics and holding true to her platform. The reign of abuse with public funds will soon to be at an end. Its re-assuring to see people standing up for just causes and accountability. Thank You Mayor Zimmer for helping to champion this cause.
gazianogirling well it was a good try. You came here trying to bait the revolt group and after 14 hours, now, numerous people have read your screed and have refused to participate in your little exercise.
The truth is Hoboken Revolt appreciates and honors our fine police and fire services. We just want contracts that are reasonable and won't harm our community years from now. The audits are now scheduled to be released and the state monitor knows Hoboken residents are engaged in the budget process and will welcome reasonable contracts.
Honestly, I never see policemen walking the streets, so I did not notice their contempt. Maybe if they get out of their cars (other than just parking illegally by DeFiore to get their sandwiches) and start patrolling the streets to prevent future robberies and break-ins I will look at their faces.
Goffygrilbiatche, you really need to come to grips with your ANGER ISSUES. Nobody expects Hoboken to become a "perfect" city and while government officials are well overstaffed and overpaid, Hoboken has been transformed over the past 30 years as a result. You're rhetoric sounds more like a liberal candyass who's upset you get paid $40,000 because you didn't have the confidence to stand up and be a leader or get a real job. If you have some much passion for "your city" then put down your laptop and take up a public position to affect change. Too busy handing out dandelions and latte`s?
I've spent most of my time bloggin about the abuses and injustice in this city and finally had something positive to say about a person who is trying to champion that cause. You're one of those people who live thinking this is your cause. If only spending 8 years here and trying to support Revolt for its efforts makes me a "pantywaist transient" then I guess that's fine, but your miss guided ranting certainly shows your immaturity and insecurity. And for the record, the corruption started and is still most prevalent with the long standing residents of Hoboken. The "transient" voters are the ones who got tired of being milked like cows after resurrecting Hoboken. This City doesn't need a REVOLT.. It needs a plan. You should spend some time reviewing the Mayor's platform, the new Council's progress and the efforts of those who are working to force change. "We need real MEN and real WOMEN around here for a REVOLT?" Please... REAL MEN don't hide in blogs taking aim at people for applauding public servants for trying to make a difference. Constructive comments should help your anger issues. Either that or try going "Postal" so my tax dollars can go to work as the steroid pumped police force dumps you in the next high rise's foundation.
Tommy Numb Nuts,
Firstly, the last thing you want to do is compare W2s.
When we meet, and I am hopeful that one day we will, you will soil your adult diaper upon viewing my tax statements. They are mind-blowing.
Resurrecting Hoboken? I don't know what designer drug suppositories you're using, but over the past eight years, this town has been turned into a post-college dormitory for douche nozzles.
When a longshoreman's hangout like Kelly's is gutted to make way for a bogus wine bar full of ultra-white Six Sigma automatons, you know the end is nigh.
You can call these moneyed "junior executive" transients "YUNNIES" - young, urban narcissists -- the perfect neighborhood destruction machines due to their lack of empathy, sense of entitlement, and contempt for those "beneath" them.
The town is soulless. The character and soul has been sucked out of it. There's next to nothing of original value left here. Hoboken has been reduced to a high-density crucible of empty lifestyle consultants.
We've gone from ON THE WATERFRONT to AT THE NAIL SALON.

Here's my solution for gazianogirling -- just leave! I'm sure that a 28 year resident such as yourself has made plenty on your appreciation - no doubt good compensation for us Yuppie Narcissists invading your blue collar paradise. That's assuming that you own and aren't part of the project crowd - including those in the rent controlled apartments that seem to think they have a right to their subsidy. Grow up you old wench! You'd rather the riverfront be the toxic paradise it was only a few years ago while machine politicians like Camarano were the rule? There are many problems the town has inherited from years of corruption and neglect. Us Yuppies are the reason why you finally have a real mayor like Zimmer.
You can go back to listening to your Frank records and reminiscing about your days with the longshoremen at the Clam Broth House. I'll stick to Starbucks.
