Hoboken Revolt

The Hoboken Tax Reform Coalition

For well over the eight years Dave Roberts, father of the largest tax increase in Hoboken history, has darkened the Office of Mayor Hoboken has been run not as a business but as a personal club for a select connected few.

Examples of this are easy to find, hiring a connected local guy to be Parking Director despite him being given a life time ban from the New York Stock Exchange for mismanaging client money, Carmelo Garcia buying a brownstone for 400K, Our tax collector putting an illegal story on a building he owns, the list goes one and one and on.

But now the graft and ineptitude have reached new heights. Hoboken city tax sky rocketing over 80% with no significant reduction in sight and the BOE contract giving school employees a 13+% raise over three years while the people paying those salaries are facing layoffs and salary cuts.

We need good people to run for office if any of this is to change. More importantly when good people step up and run for office we have to support them if they are to have any chance at winning.

Dawn Zimmer fought through three elections to beat back a well funded machine puppet and with our votes won. Dawn has worked to mitigate flooding by quietly persuading the Hudson Sewage Authority to largely abandon its expensive and unworkable long term plan in favor building the pump which will do the most good first and on its own dime. She's working to get parks built, which will improve property values and our own personal enjoyment, and to bring better people into government, her pick of a young comptroller for the housing authority board.

Dawn is set to make an announcement on Thursday, February 5th at McSwiggins. It's a Thursday night and she's arranged for a drink special, 35 bucks all you can drink with some free munchies. I'll be there and I'd love to see anyone who wants to see the mismanagement of Hoboken end join in.
