Hoboken Revolt

The Hoboken Tax Reform Coalition

What's up with the (non-Hoboken) young people going door-to-door on behalf of "The Democrats?"

They are checking off names on lists --- WHICH IS FINE as well as legal, I've done it myself for years including last year for Obama--- it's just that when I politely asked them for whom they were campaigning, all they repeated was "The Democrats." Apparantly they had been going door-to-door last week encouraging people to vote "absentee", which is fine as well, on behalf of "The Democrats." Since we have a history of problems with decidedly undemocratic local Democrats including Absentee Ballot uh...shennigans, I can't help but wonder if they are shilling for a mayoral candidate or obfuscating? Anyone know?

I haven't run across these folks, but I'd guess they're working for the county or state political party committees. Nothing wrong with it so long as they aren't mishandling applications and ballots.
They are paid for by the DNC. They cannot actually name a candidate they are in support of, or it would be considered a coordinated effort and subject to each individual candidates spending threshold. Just "inside baseball" election law stuff.
Heartwarming isn't it. It's already been reported that an appeal to the State has been made not to throw out absentee ballots on the basis of bad signatures. There is no official reply on this request.

Corzine certainly has learned a lot living in Hoboken.
Do not forget; this is Hudson County.
VOTE EARLY AND VOTE OFTEN used to be the call of the machine. That plus voter intimidation.
Some things change, but then again some things never change.
