Hoboken Revolt

The Hoboken Tax Reform Coalition

Our new Governor, Mr Christie wants to cut the state budget by 9% not on the 2010 budget but 9% on the 2009 budget.
I make so bold as to suggest to our Mayor and Council that they go forth and do likewise.

I'm sure they'll beat 9%, but I suspect the chances of reducing the budget in tax terms are greatly reduced with Christie's announcement.

Christie is pushing a lot of the burden for cutting down to municipalities, as well he should, since municipalities know best what to cut. Hoboken is losing millions in aid.

Christie says he is going to give municipalities the tools to cut spending, but some things will still be hard to cut.
Do me a favor name the directors, their departments, and compare their salary in FY 2010 to FY2009.
Oh I see. So when you say "new directors" you don't mean new directorships you mean these particular people are new to the the existing positions. So if the compensation of the directorships didn't change then the direct explicit economic impact of replacing the directors is nill.

Did the compensation go up, go down, or stay the same for these positions from FY2009 to FY2010?
While I believe that, at least, some of the director's salaries were too high based on their year's of experience (under 10, or even 5 in at least a couple of cases) and the fact that these are municipal jobs which traditionally have more benefits (although the high level of benefits is precarious with our new governer,) I'm wondering if you are suggesting that our municipality can run itself?

Well, there were 5 new directors added under zimmer, at 100G a piece or more...Lets start there. Half million right off the bat. 2.5million to go and then start with the 36 positions created under her team...that ought to do it....

The 36 positions weren't "created." Most were simply "filled."

I guess we could just not hire anyone in City Hall and let no work get done. Yep, that'd be helpful.

I did appreciate the comment at the council meeting (I forget who made it) that each of the directors should analyze the production and budget for their areas, and figure out where to cut 10%. I'm not against cuts, just against uninformed cuts.
In Russo's 36 new hires List he included ALL hires, no resignations or those removed for being a crook (Peter Cammarano)

For Example Russo Counted the former directors hired by Petey The Perp.
Todd Poole
Joe Garcia
Jason Orlando
The 3 At Large Councilmembers
Mayor Zimmer
Her new Directors

So when he says 8 directors or 36 newbies he doesn't subtract those who left.

He's simply an untrustworthy liar in the typical Russo Tradition.

Perhaps if we asked RUSSO, His millionaire real estate agent Mom and his felon father to pay surcharges for living in a PILOTED buildings while earning OVER the LIMIT they could help reduce tax burdens for his constituents.

Let's stick to the point; taxes have to be cut NOW. This state is broke and Hoboken is charging toward that goal.
The time for political posturing is over; anyone who is elected must act NOW. I have not heard any concrete plans for cutting our bloated budget and employee rolls.
Drive around this town and you can see where cuts can be made.
the only way cuts will be made is for the Council and Mayor to step up to the plate and simply say; 'ALL DEPARTMENTAL BUDGETS WILL BE CUT 10% WITHIN 30 DAYS. nO IFS ANDS OR BUTS; THEY MUST ACT NOW OR ELSE GET VOTED OUT..
Agreed!
