Hoboken Revolt

The Hoboken Tax Reform Coalition

Be cautious: anything said against Mason and the few people on Hoboken411’s site who have been defending her actions for the past couple of months or anything said against Rasilowsky or the school budget goes unpublished.
For the people who are interested in finding the truth about what has been going on in this city lately, Hoboken411 is a biased source. He (Perry) twists the stories the way he sees fit to benefit Mason & Rasilowsky (who once again demonstrated his incompetence by telling more lies during the school budget hearing).

There does seem to be a slight pro-Mason, anti-Zimmer, very anti-Cammarano bias in the political items, but then again, it's one person's blog and they never claimed to be neutral. That's a shame about the comment censoring if true. FWIW, I've seen numerous anti-Mason comments get through, so I don't think the censoring is quite as heavy-handed as alleged here.
It actually is even more "heavy-handed" than alleged. I know of several people who are entirely banned from posting on H411. My own posts usually sit in the filter for many hours (sometimes up to a day) and are often irrelevant by the time they are finally published because the discussion has moved on. Frequently, my posts are not published at all. So, yes, I agree that this site is very biased.

Again, I can only speak from my personal experience. I've posted comments that were somewhat critical of Mason, and those have been published. I have also read numerous comments that were critical of Mason. So if there is censoring, and again I can't confirm or deny that there is, it's a bit more selective than just banning "anything" anti-Mason, as the original poster stated.
411 is not biased... it is just read by 1,000X more people then Revolt. When this site is around as long as 411 has been, and adds as much value to the city as it has, then you can criticize. Funny how upstarts love to bash the powerful in hopes of dethroning them.... good luck.
I run a technical blog and filters have to be used to avoid improper language, and blatant racism. I have been sued 2X by people over Posts that people made that I had nothing to do with. Amazing the bravery of the anonymous poster.

I don't think that censoring is the correct term, since posts, at least for me, rarely get lost. It is more like excessive moderating. I know when I used to post it was instantaneous. Now my post may take several hours to clear the filter, and it does not matter whats in it. Also, there are good days and bad days which I think is due to Perry not being around. It sometimes makes it difficult because you don't know when your post will make it in and can't wait around to see if you are able to impact an active discussion

That said, I don't complain because it is his site to do with as he pleases. I really have no right to complain.

My comment regarding the filtering/censoring on H411 was not a complaint, but meant as a hint for people not familiar with H411. As far as I am concerned, Perry may do as he pleases, and so may I - namely ignore his site since it is too biased for my taste.
I hardly think the site is biased against Raslowsky. He and his administration are bashed endlessly, and deservedly so.
I'll make only one reply to this: Since none of you actually have asked me, or run the site yourself - these are baseless claims. Hoboken411 has nearly 150,000 user comments, 7,000 stories and over 17,000 registered Hoboken residents. Hoboken411 also has post rules I try my best to enforce in the midst of creating over 50+ new Hoboken-centric entries weekly. Less than 0.001% of the posts have been moderated, removed or blocked due to post rule violations. An amazing success rate.

There are several reasons why a post (or poster) might have action taken on them:
- Obvious violation of post rules
- Ridiculously off topic, beating a subject to death in the wrong thread, etc.
- Multiple user personalities (This has been happening quite often as political season heats up - I know who they are!)
- Ill-fingered commenters who don't know how to edit HTML, thus causing more work for me. I send them emails - and they don't respond.
- and so on and so on...

Mind you, I cannot monitor comments 24 hours a day - otherwise nothing new would ever get covered.

None of the actions I take on Hoboken411 are politically motivated - and as you can see - all opinions are represented. For those that like to fantasize about how 411 is run - ever thought of writing movie scripts instead? Use your imagination for something more useful.

I tell it like I see it - and that's that.

The rumor mongering can be left to the plankton of the online world.
The Hoboken411 discussion is impossible to follow. Its like 4-6 posters just repeating themselves over and over again.

Does anyone on this site have insights into the mayoral race?
I stand by what I just said. On the other hand, I do understand that Perry has to make a living, and it is his right to do as he pleases. Nevertheless, that is also a turn off for me, so I won’t take anything at its face value from 411.
To Dave: unless something changes drastically between now and the election day, I will vote for Zimmer’s and ‘Kids First’s’ slates. My choice is based on the recent developments. However, you need to read for yourself to see if you would support what Zimmer stands for at: http://www.zimmerforchange.com/index.php?page=display&id=113. I know do.
Anybody who claims Hoboken411 is biased toward Jack Raslowsky doesn't read Hoboken411! This post from georgia is very silly, from where I am sitting. Hoboken411 has done a fantastic job covering the Board of Education, and clearly the bent of the coverage is in favor of the taxpayer and the young parent and away from the status quo that Dr. Raslowsky represents. There are many comments in favor of Maureen Sullivan's views, including by Ms. Sullivan herself.

Recently Theresa Burns (former board member) started posting and has been inundated by anti-Raslowsky people countering her positions. I say again georgia's post is very silly. Hoboken411 is not afraid to tell the truth and is not owned by any politician. Perhaps georgia is actually one of the politicians that Hoboken411 has made look silly?
